The Delmonico

Gin and cognac split down the middle with both vermouths and a dash of Angostura, stirred and served up with an orange twist. A pre Prohibition classic from the New York restaurant that basically invented American fine dining.

The preparation

4 steps, about 5 minutes start to finish.

  1. 01

    Combine the gin, cognac, both vermouths, and bitters in a mixing glass with ice.

  2. 02

    Stir about 30 seconds, until well chilled.

  3. 03

    Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass.

  4. 04

    Express the orange twist over the top and drop it in.
