Vanilla vodka, orange liqueur, fresh juice and a little cream, shaken hard until it goes frothy and cold, then poured into a glass rimmed with orange vanilla sugar. It tastes exactly like the push pop you remember, with a grown up finish.
5 steps, about 5 minutes start to finish.
Rim the glass with orange-vanilla sugar: mix sugar with orange zest and a scrape of vanilla.
Combine vanilla vodka, orange liqueur, fresh OJ, cream, and vanilla syrup in a shaker with ice.
Shake hard for 15 seconds. You want it frothy and cold.
Strain into the rimmed glass over fresh ice (rocks) or up (coupe).
Garnish with an orange wheel and a piece of vanilla bean.
“Give it a hard 15-second shake so the cream and juice whip up frothy and cold. Fresh orange juice beats the bottled stuff here, it's what makes it taste like the ice cream truck.”
